About BottleneckCalcs

BottleneckCalcs is a free, open tool designed to help PC gamers and builders identify performance bottlenecks in their systems before spending money on upgrades.

Our calculator uses a multi-factor analysis engine that considers CPU benchmark scores, GPU performance data, resolution load, workload type, and thread utilization to provide accurate bottleneck predictions.

How We Calculate

We normalize CPU and GPU performance scores against reference hardware (current top-tier components), then apply resolution-specific weighting and workload modifiers. The resulting performance ratio is compared against an ideal balance point for each resolution to determine bottleneck severity.

Our Database

We maintain a database of 70+ CPUs and 70+ GPUs spanning multiple generations from Intel, AMD, and NVIDIA. Performance scores are derived from synthetic benchmarks (3DMark, Cinebench) and real-world gaming tests.
